Un grupo de 111 migrantes haitianos fue detenido cuando intentaba llegar en una embarcación sobrecargada a Bahamas, informaron este martes las autoridades del archipiélago atlántico.
Los migrantes, 92 hombres, 14 mujeres y 5 niños, fueron aprehendidos la víspera a 3 millas náuticas del área de Cayo Guinchos por oficiales de la Real Fuerza de Defensa bahamenses, según un comunicado de prensa.
La Real Fuerza de Defensa entregó a los haitianos a oficiales de Inmigración para su debido proceso antes de llegar a la capital de Bahamas, desde donde serán repatriados.
La migración desde este país es constante desde hace años por el creciente deterioro de la situación económica, política y de seguridad, además de por los desastres naturales, en especial por el terremoto de 2010.
