Por primera vez en la historia, un dominicano está en la final de una competencia de clavados en los Juegos Olímpicos.
Jonathan Ruvalcaba, el mexicano nacionalizado dominicano, y que compite en la categoría de trampolín tres metros, logró el hito inédito al totalizar 416,20 puntos.
La final, en la que el dominicano podrá optar por medalla, se llevará a cabo este jueves a las 9:00 de la mañana (hora dominicana).
Ruvalcaba había avanzado a las semifinales luego de superar la ronda preliminar en la décima octava posición, dejando fuera a Kevin Muñoz, quien participó con la delegación mexicana.
El clavadista nació en México, pero compite bajo la bandera del país caribeño, y es que desde el 2019 decidió portar los colores de República Dominicana debido a que, en los Juegos Olímpicos de Río 2016, la Federación Mexicana de Natación –entonces encabezada por Kiril Todorov– decidió excluirlo de la selección nacional que representó a México en dicha justa.
