En la mañana del viernes un contingente formado por 75 militares guatemaltecos y ocho soldados salvadoreños aterrizó en el aeropuerto Toussaint Louverture de Puerto Príncipe, Haití.
El grupo, trasladado en un avión militar estadounidense, se unirá a los esfuerzos internacionales para hacer frente a la creciente influencia del crimen organizado y las pandillas, que han sumido al país en una grave crisis de seguridad.
Este despliegue se inscribe en un plan de colaboración internacional destinado a apoyar a las autoridades haitianas, desbordadas por la violencia que ha permitido que organizaciones delictivas tomen el control de extensas áreas del territorio nacional.
La iniciativa busca restablecer el orden y garantizar condiciones básicas de seguridad para la población.
