El Centro de Operaciones de Emergencias (COE) ha dispuesto alerta amarilla para cinco provincias y el Distrito Nacional mantiene a 13 en verde debido a la influencia de dos fenómenos meteorológicos: una onda tropical y una vaguada en altura.
Ambos fenómenos generan una atmósfera bastante inestable sobre el país, lo que lleva a las autoridades a tomar medidas preventivas.
Las provincias en alerta amarilla son Samaná, María Trinidad Sánchez, El Seibo y Hato Mayor. Mientras tanto, en alerta verde se encuentran las provincias de Santo Domingo, Distrito Nacional, Bahoruco, Monte Plata, Independencia, Sánchez Ramírez, Monseñor Nouel, San Pedro de Macorís, La Romana, La Altagracia, La Vega, San Juan, Elías Piña, Santiago y Duarte.
El COE aconseja a la población a estar atenta a los boletines meteorológicos y a seguir las recomendaciones de las autoridades. Es fundamental que las personas que viven en zonas vulnerables a inundaciones, deslizamientos de tierra y crecidas de ríos tomen precauciones adicionales.
Se recomienda tener a mano un plan de emergencia familiar, identificar rutas de evacuación y contar con un kit de emergencia que incluya alimentos no perecederos, agua potable, medicinas y elementos de primeros auxilios.
